An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your device. Instead of inserting a physical card you scan a QR code and the profile loads onto the phone. It runs alongside your existing SIM, so you can use local data abroad while your home number stays active.
Most devices from 2019 onwards do: iPhone XR and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and most flagship models. The phone must not be carrier-locked. Dial *#06# — if an EID appears, your device supports eSIM.
You get a daily allowance at full 4G/5G speed. Once it is used up you keep browsing at a reduced 384 Kbps until the end of the day — no extra charge and no disconnection. The full allowance resets each morning. The reduced speed is fine for messaging, maps and email.
Install it at home before you fly, on Wi-Fi. Installation needs an internet connection, which is awkward to arrange at a foreign airport. The eSIM stays dormant and only starts counting on its first connection to a network at your destination.
Every plan includes 100 free outgoing minutes through the app, to your home country and worldwide. Your existing number stays active on the phone for SMS and verification codes. To receive calls too, set up call forwarding to our number from your account area — a one-tap step that avoids being billed for incoming calls abroad. Set it up before you fly, while you still have your home network: the code is sent to your carrier and usually cannot be dialled once you are abroad. Alternatively, if your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling you can rely on that with no forwarding. Forwarding happens on your carrier’s network and may be billed at their rate.
